There will be six one hour classes, each Wednesday, beginning on July 30. Listening To Nature - Walk In The Redwood Forest (9:30AM - 12:30PM)
Walk with us in the forest of the San Lorenzo River Redwoods of Castle Rock State park. Slow down, become silent and focus.
Docents facilitate activities that encourage hikers to go inward to "listen" to what nature has to tell us about beauty, strength, joy and stillness. Activities are inspired by “Listening to Nature” by Joseph Cornell, founder of the Sharing Nature Foundation and author of several nature activity books for adults and children.
The walk is 2 miles roundtrip, modest elevation gain, sensible pace, mildly strenuous. No fee. Reservations are required. Call, email or go on line to sign up.
Upon reservation, you will receive hike details and meeting site information.
Meeting Location: Sempervirens Point on Hwy 9, 1.8 miles west of Skyline Blvd. All meeting and trail info will be sent to you upon reservation.

Dog Show With A Twist! (12:00PM - 11:59PM)
A “Dog Show with a Twist” will be co-hosted by Kelly’s French Bakery and Society Dog this Sunday from noon to 3pm. The event will be held at the Swift Street Courtyard on the Westside (402 Ingalls Street, Santa Cruz).
Open to all dogs, the competitions are: Best Dressed, Best Kisser, Best Underbite, Best Name, Longest Nose, Best Trick, Best Singer, Oldest Dog, Biggest Dog, Smallest Dog, Best Smile and Owner/Dog Look-a-Like. “Who’s Doggy are You?” is a contest for couples to see who their dog will choose. Winners will receive prizes. Competitions are $2 each entry. Sign-ups will be at the event.

Docent-Led Hike On Michael’s Summit Loop (9:30AM - 2:30PM)
This 5-mile loop is in the San Lorenzo River Redwoods hidden away deep inside Castle Rock State Park. Docents will point out the incredible biodiversity of the flora on this seldom visited sanctuary. Walk through redwood groves that will help rekindle your soul and take your breath away. Reservations required.
