Majors Division

Brewers 14, Giants 1
It was all Billy Mullins on April 9 in a 14-1 defeat of the Giants. Mullins threw 86 pitches in a nearly perfect complete game, striking out 17 and giving up just one hit to Trevor Patterson.

Meanwhile, the Giants’ pitchers walked 13 while striking out nine, giving up six hits. At the plate, Mullins went 3-for-3 with a single, double and triple for six RBIs. Eli Paynter was 2-for-3, and Garrett Kustin singled.

For Mullins, the effort was doubly sweet. He now holds the Mullins family record for strikeouts in a game, having gone one better than big bro Michael.
The Brewers beat the Giants again, 6-3, on Saturday, April 19, behind a complete game, 12-strikeout performance by Mullins.

Padres 19, Dodgers 13
In a five-inning contest that reached the maximum two-hour limit, the Padres came away with another win.

The Dodgers scored three runs in the first, but the Padres scored nine in the bottom half of the inning.

Sluggers Dayton Landry (Padres) and Johnny Lucas (Dodgers) both hit home runs. Jordan Peabody went 3-for-5 and batted in four runs, three on a bases-loaded triple during a seven-run rally by the Padres in the 3rd.

Dodgers Lucas, Jared Mailey, Rusty Rosenthal and Robert Biagiotti combined for nine hits and racked up eight RBIs. T.J. Shaw had an RBI double in the Dodgers’ eight-run rally in the fifth.

Minors Division

Yankees 15, Angels 9
Thirteen walks and seven errors by the Angels helped the Yankees score in every inning. After a lead-off walk in the fourth, D’Shawn Hopkins hit his second triple of the game and scored on the play courtesy of one of the Angels’ errors.

For the Angels, Michael Mattoch had a double, and Blake Snedeker was 2-for-2 with an RBI single.

Triple-A Division

Padres 9, Nationals 8
An upset appeared in the making when the Nationals’ A.J. Collishaw doubled his team to a 6-4 lead over the Padres going into the bottom of the sixth, but the Padres rallied by scoring two and had runners on second and third with one out.

The Nats deployed five infielders on the next play, which paid off when third baseman Tyler Green stopped a shot down the line and threw out the homebound runner at the plate.

The game remained 6-6 in the eighth when Collishaw doubled again, knocking in Eli Bjorklund. Collishaw’s brother, Drew, then singled his twin home to make it 8-6.

The Padres came right back, as Dawson Danner walked and moved to third on Matt Gillette’s single.

Nick Carli then crushed a double to right-center, scoring Danner and setting up a bang-bang play at the plate as Gillette scampered home.

Nearly 200 spectators held their breath until the ump signaled safe — to the delight of the Padre faithful.

Beau Lawrie followed with an infield hit and stole second, and Ryan Edwards found a hole through the Nats five-infielder defense to score Carli for the win.

Majors Division

Braves 25, A’s 8
The Braves obviously didn’t forget their 17-1 defeat by the A’s earlier this year, and returned the favor in their rematch, winning 25-8. Every Brave scored at least one run as the team ran up a whopping .740 on-base percentage.

Reese Finley went 4-for-5, and Ryan Traulsen was 3-for-3 while turning in a fine performance on the mound.

Tyler Bisel homered and scored three runs, Jace Hardwick had two hits, Joey Becker tripled and Alec Smith doubled.

Double-A Division

Riverdogs 10, Diamondjaxx 10
A tie was called because of darkness after 10 innings of play Friday, April 18, with both teams knotted at 10.

Thomas Williamson’s three-run homer and Chris Copriviza’s 5-for-6 day powered the Riverdogs to an 8-8 tie after six innings, while the Diamondjaxx were led by three-hit performances from Neil Pacella, Jack Kastner, Joe Murray and Cooper McElrone.

The ’Jaxx scored twice in the top of the ninth, but Williamson homered again to knot things at 10.
