A motorcyclist lane-splitting at high speed sustained serious injuries when his bike struck a pickup on Highway 17 near Mt. Hermon Road in Scotts Valley at 1:46 p.m. The 48-year-old man was taken by American Medical Response ambulance to a San Jose trauma center when low clouds prevented a helicopter landing. No one else was injured. Scotts Valley firefighters helped with the call.

The pastor of a church on 5900 block of Graham Hill Road in Felton found a man unconscious in a planter box in front of the church at 11:30 a.m. The pastor tried to wake the man, because a funeral was about to begin. The man woke up and started swearing and yelling. He was arrested and taken to Santa Cruz County Jail.
A man staggering along at Highway 9 and Old County Road in Ben Lomond was arrested for showing symptoms of alcohol intoxication.
Lumber was taken from the yard on the 9400 block of Highway 9 in Ben Lomond at 3:06 p.m. A letter was sent to the owner of the vehicle used to move the lumber.

Someone opened a man’s unlocked garage door at midnight on the 200 block of Roberts Road in Ben Lomond and stole two 5-gallon containers of hard cider.

A man’s park-type bench was taken at midnight and broken with boulders on the 2000 block of River Road in Ben Lomond.

A 20-year-old man was arrested on an outstanding warrant after he was caught jaywalking between two controlled intersections at 11:28 p.m. on the 200 block of Mt. Hermon Road.

An officer stopped a vehicle at 10:54 p.m. on the 200 block of Mt. Hermon Road for speeding and having expired registration tags. The 27-year-old driver had hash and a smoking pipe and was given a ticket.
