Threesome wins Phillips golf tourney; May Mayhem at SV Middle School; SLV baseball squares off with SV; SLV rec softball closing day
Threesome wins Phillips golf tourney
A threesome of Gary Meadows, Rick Meadows and Paul Mercer won the annual Ben Phillips Golf Tournament at Pasatiempo Golf Club on April 21.
Ed, Steve, Travis and Clinton Hill took second and a quartet of Eric Hammer, Jason Alison, Mike Telton and Andy Lehman took third in the annual tournament put on by the San Lorenzo Valley High School Athletic Boosters.
Each hole was sponsored by a local business, and the money raised by the tournament helps cover all the pay-to-play fees for SLV athletes.
May Mayhem at SV Middle School
The Scotts Valley Middle School faculty and staff will face off with the students in the first May Mayhem volleyball match at 7 tonight, May 9.
Both the boys and girls teams are league powerhouses and are favorites to win the matchup in the middle school gymnasium.
The event is a fundraiser for the school’s athletics program. Cost is $5 for adults and $3 for kids ages 5 to 10.
Other entertainment by students and teachers will enhance the night. Food and drinks will be sold.
SLV baseball squares off with SV
The San Lorenzo Valley High baseball team finished the regular season Thursday, May 8, against Scotts Valley High. SLV went into the game 5-6 in league, 9-15-1 overall.
Scotts Valley went into the game with an identical 5-6 league record, 13-11 overall.
SLV rec softball closing day
The San Lorenzo Valley High girls softball league’s closing day will be May 17.
The SLV Middle School three divisional championship games will begin at 8:30 a.m. for the Elementary Division, the T-ball trophy presentation is at 10 a.m., the Junior Division game is at 11 a.m. and the Senior Division at 1 p.m.
There will be a raffle, dunk tank, bounce house, barbecue for $5 per plate and various other concessions.
