A 48-year-old Scotts Valley dentist jumped to his death from the 14th floor of the Disneyland Hotel on May 2.
Santa Cruz resident John Newman Jr. was in Anaheim for a convention and was staying in a room with a business associate who was also a longtime friend, Anaheim police Sgt. Rick Martinez said.
Newman reportedly made a comment to his associate, who was in the room, before jumping, police said.
Police do not know why he jumped, but they were told Newman was battling depression.
Newman owned a family dental practice on Whispering Pines Drive.
