Watsonville 10, Scotts Valley Braves 9
The Braves’ mad comeback fell short, and their season ended in exciting fashion this week.
Alex Waggoner launched a grand slam and Tyler Bisel homered to right field in consecutive at-bats to tie the game at nine in the top of the sixth for the Braves.
But in the bottom half of the inning, Watsonville scored the winning run to move on.
Capitola/Soquel Giants 14, Braves 0
The Capitola/Soquel Giants beat the Braves, 14-0, on a four-inning no-hitter by Isaiah Glenn and Fabiano Hale.

The Padres prevailed twice last week to notch their third straight victory in the Minors Tournament of Champions competition in Gilroy.
Scotts Valley Padres 8, Aptos Red Sox 2
Pitching led the way for the team, as Nick Carli, Dawson Danner, Josh Anderson and Matt Gillette combined to give up two unearned runs while striking out nine batters.
Beau Lawrie again led the way on offensive, with three more RBIs and a 2-for-2 night. Catcher Owen Rockow threw out a runner trying to steal second, bringing his total of nabbed base runners to three for the tournament.
Padres 14, Gilroy Mets 5
While pitching beat the Red Sox, it was the offense that led the way in the Padres’ victory over the Mets.
Christian Rebottarro, Kyle Giguiere, Anderson, Danner and Lawrie all had two hits. Giguiere drove in four runs with a triple and a single, while Danner drove in two with a double and triple.
Jake Finch also plated two runs.
Gillette came in to pitch and closed out the game in the fifth with a 1 2/3 inning. The Padres’ tournament run continues this week.

Starting pitcher Jordan Peabody threw just 78 pitches, dealing 10 strikeouts and no walks in a complete game three-hitter.
The rest of the outs came from an error-free performance by the Padres’ defense.
Jacob Hicks bagged three deep fly balls in center field while Dayton Landry, Max La Capria and Nate Gentry got the job done in the infield.
Peabody also played solid defense, fielding one hard-hit comebacker and another soft hit off the mound.
The Padres wasted little time starting things up in the first inning.
The team batted in four runs on hits by Duncan Mackie, Pat Primeau, Landry and Hicks.
In the second, the Padres scored five more.
Peabody, Primeau and Mackie all singled with one out before Landry sent a 0-1 pitch sailing over the recently raised left-center field fence for a grand slam.
Hicks also doubled and scored in the inning after La Capria singled.
The Padres now advance to the Final Four in the winner’s bracket.
