Smoke filled the sky in northern San Lorenzo Valley from a small wildland fire that started Monday in Castle Rock State Park. It was reported contained at 18 acres on Wednesday.
The fire broke out near Goat Rock. Cal Fire officials said the area is extremely remote and hard to reach. A 1-1/2-mile hose line was being used, hand crews were being ferried in by helicopter and air tankers flew in. The blaze is under investigation, and no cause has been established.
