In two separate incidents late last year, arsons set ablaze the tool shed and kitchen at the Santa Cruz Homeless Garden Project near Natural Bridges State Beach.
The fifth grade Vine Hill Elementary School Service Club recently donated a larger-than-life check to help the Garden Project.
The 40-member service club held a bake sale on campus that sold out midway through the third recess and raised $375, said fifth-grade teacher Mary Dettle.
The service club also does community service and hosts spirit days on campus.
