A small wildfire started near Goat Rock in Castle Rock State Park, north of Boulder Creek. With support from aircraft, Cal Fire and Boulder Creek firefighters had kept it to less than 20 acres by Wednesday, July 16, but it was still burning. No structures were threatened.

July 13


Someone was seen smashing a car window with a tire iron before reaching in and taking a woman’s purse at 1:30 p.m. on the corner of Highway 9 and Glengarry Road in Felton.

July 10


A man found a bike in his deceased mother’s house on the 2000 block of El Rancho Drive in Scotts Valley and turned it over to the sheriff’s office at
10 a.m. A man who had been living in the unoccupied house for two days was arrested.

 

July 9


A woman left her wallet sitting on top of her car by mistake in front of her house at 1 p.m. on the 9700 block of Highway 9 in Ben Lomond. When she remembered it, it was gone. The wallet was found on the street by a passer-by and returned with cash and gift cards missing.


Two young people swiped $1,400 in $100 bills from a man’s vehicle at 4:30 p.m. while hitchhiking on the corner of highways 236 and 9 in Boulder Creek.


A Thruster Mini X-Ray scooter was found at 12:11 p.m. on the 8500 block of Highway 9 in Ben Lomond.

July 8


The music director at a lodge on the 11500 block of Highway 9 in Brookdale reported at 10:47 a.m. that equipment had been swiped from the band room.

 

July 7


At 3 p.m., a woman reported that her dog, Pumpkin, had taken home a large bone to the 900 block of Creek Drive in Boulder Creek.


Fifteen rounds of live ammunition were turned in to the San Lorenzo Valley service center in Felton at 3:30 p.m.


A 12-year-old went into a woman’s house and stole some baseball cards at 11:30 p.m. on the 12000 block of Central Avenue in Boulder Creek. The woman told the officer who it was, and the young person admitted to taking the cards and apologized.


Three people were arrested at 5:45 p.m. for being drunk in public on the 9000 block of Highway 9
in Ben Lomond.

July 5


Prescription drugs were swiped from a woman’s purse at midnight on the 200 block of Riverview Drive in Boulder Creek.

July 4


An employee was seen sneaking money out of the register of a store on the 6100 block of Highway 9 in Felton at 4:05 p.m. The employee was ticketed and released.

July 13


A 43-year-old woman and two men, ages 47 and 49, had minor injuries during a fight on the 4900 block of Scotts Valley Drive at 2:19 p.m. All three declined medical treatment and chose not to file charges, despite their injuries.

July 9


Police received two reports of a man videotaping children playing at Hocus Pocus Park at 7:44 p.m. According to reports, the man appeared to be Latino, with long hair, sunglasses, a baseball cap and a hooded sweatshirt. He drove away in a blue Honda hatchback after he was seen by residents. Officers have increased the frequency of patrols at the park and encourage residents to call if they see suspicious activity.


An officer found an unoccupied stolen vehicle in a parking lot at 10:06 a.m. on the 200 block of Blue Bonnet Lane. The vehicle was towed, and the registered owner was told.

July 7


Someone used a stolen prescription sheet to have a prescription filled at 11:18 a.m. at a store on the 200 block of Mt. Hermon Road.
