California American Water Co. and the San Lorenzo Valley Water District have completed the transfer of ownership of the Felton water system from private to public ownership.

California American Water Co. and the San Lorenzo Valley Water District have completed the transfer of ownership of the Felton water system from private to public ownership.

The district has taken over all service of the nearly 1,330 water customers in Felton.

The Kirby Street office in Felton was closed permanently on Sept. 5, and all inquiries should be directed to the district’s Boulder Creek headquarters located at 13060 Highway 9.

The operations, administration and customer service offices can be reached by phone at 338-2153 or through the district Web site at www.slvwd.com.

On June 5, district directors agreed to purchase the system for $10.5 million and to repay a $2.9 million Safe Water Drinking Bond Act debt, which built the Kirby water treatment plant.

Cal-Am also agreed to donate 250 acres of watershed land adjacent to Fall Creek State Park to the district.

Not in public hands. It's in the hands of the corrupt SLV Water District. Bummer!
