A letter to the editor from Sheryl Grover in Felton
EDITOR,
I am angered at the complete disregard for public and environmental health that the Santa Cruz County Board of Supervisors is displaying by continuing to support the high-density housing proposal in Felton.
The application submitted by South County Housing should be made to follow the same requirements the rest of us must adhere to, and for a good reason. This development jeopardizes the quality of life for residents and species of Felton, Lompico, Zayante, Mt. Hermon and other downstream communities, when you look at the environmental impacts. No matter how much money SCH wants to throw at it, this is simply a very poor site for a development.
If you have ever been at the Safeway parking lot when the sewage treatment has failed, imagine multiplying the smell exponentially — that’s what you’ll get if this development is permitted to go through. The site simply cannot tolerate this project.
You come to Felton to smell the redwoods, not sewage. We want to be known as Felton — not Smellton.
Sheryl Grover, Felton
