A letter to the editor from Tom Scully in Bonny Doon
EDITOR, I am surprised that a retired captain from Cal Fire would have so many facts wrong in his letter to the editor about me. A simple call to my readily available phone number by Mr. Gilbert would have answered all of his stated concerns and given him the full factual details. I could not find a listing for him in the phone directory. I am the spokesman for the Bonny Doon community members who have undertaken the task of getting better fire and life-safety services, so I guess it might even be understandable that my name gets in the paper from time to time. One item must be directly addressed, though. Mr. Gilbert quotes the original responding Bonny Doon firefighter with words that he did not say — fact checking with the source would have been a nice courtesy. His real words were that “the dispatch error made a tremendous difference in the beginning of the fire fight.” Anyone who lives in our area or who is involved in our LAFCo application to form our own fire district can find my phone number, and I encourage anyone who has any concerns — those mentioned by Mr. Gilbert or others — to call.
