Sheriff's detectives believe the decomposed body of a young man discovered north of Scotts Valley on Wednesday, Oct. 1, was the victim of a homicide. An autopsy has led detectives to believe the victim was a white or Hispanic male between 14 and 22 years old who stood 5 feet, 3 inches tall. The man had a thin build and had dark brown of black hair. He was wearing a blue button-up collared shirt and a gold and diamond ring. Detectives said the method of the killing is not being disclosed for investigative purposes. It's believed the man had been dead for two months to a year. Searchers found the torso after a human skull was found by a hiker Tuesday on a walking trail near Redwood Glen Camp located between Glenwood Drive and Bean Creek Road. Investigators ran out of light and returned early Wednesday with search dogs to look for the body. The body was discovered several hundred yards from the skull in a heavily wooded and remote area off the trail. The Sheriff's Office asks anyone with information about the case to call the Investigative Division at 454-2311, the anonymous tip line at 454-2847 orSheriff's Dispatch at 471-1121.
