Free day at telework center

Felton and Scotts Valley Satellite Telework Centers is offering a free day of co-working and teleworking at its two locations today, Dec. 2.

Workers can take their wireless devices, and the center will provide Wi-Fi, coffee and a cubicle or other space to work.

The space will be open to nonmembers on a first-come, first-served basis from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

A center is located in Felton at 6265 Highway 9, and in Scotts Valley, at 5900 Butler Lane.

‘Green’ preschool now open

Seedlings Preschool, which touts itself as Santa Cruz County’s first independent green preschool, has opened its doors. The preschool is in downtown Felton at 275 Farmer St. and serves children 18 months to 5 years old. Seedlings is eco-certified and follows sustainable practices, such as recycling, composting and serving organic meals each day.

Zero donates motorcycle

Scotts Valley-based Zero Motorcycles donated a Zero DS motorcycle to the Steve Young-Jerry Rice Bay Area Golf Classic. The tournament was at CordeValle Golf Club in San Martin as a fundraiser for the Forever Young Foundation.

The motorcycle, valued at more than $10,000, was awarded as a prize to Steve Strawbridge, vice president of merchandising for the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio, who won a chipping contest among 90 participants Oct. 26.
