A Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated Feb. 27 for longtime Ben Lomond resident Marcelle Van Hulle, who died peacefully at the age of 98.
Born in Brussels, Belgium, she moved to Ben Lomond with her husband, Henri, in 1953. She was a longtime parishioner of St. John’s Catholic Church in Felton and will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Relatives said Mrs. Van Hulle enjoyed being a homemaker and they will cherish many memories of her welcoming disposition, meals she prepared and her talents at gardening.
After her husband died in 1970, she traveled extensively and visited all their relatives in Belgium.
She is survived by her daughter, Jeannine Sirles of Ben Lomond; her son, Lucien Van Hulle, and his wife, Anne Marie, of Cathedral City; and her sister, Irene Vanderhaegan of Belgium.
Mrs. Van Hulle also leaves six grandchildren and seven great-granddaughters.
The Mass was celebrated at St. John’s in Felton, followed by burial in Holy Cross Cemetery in Santa Cruz beside her husband. To share condolences, visit www.pacificgardenschapel.com.
