Backyard burn season postponed
Due to dry weather, the Monterey Bay Air Pollution Control District and Cal Fire have announced a postponement to the start of backyard burn season in Santa Cruz County.
The district originally planned for residential burning of dry yard trimmings to be permitted from December 1, 2013 through April 30, 2014.
However, due to concerns over the existing dry conditions in Santa Cruz County, the ban on all outdoor fires will continue until sufficient rain falls.
Backyard burning is prohibited in Santa Cruz County until Cal Fire lifts the restrictions.
