A 27-year-old parolee was caught after a chase in Felton on Sunday afternoon, Jan. 9.

Parolee Nick Beus was seen by a deputy at 12:45 p.m. in the Felton Faire Shopping Center and drove away in a Ford Explorer.

Beus raced down Hein and Gushee streets at 45 miles-per-hour, and turned onto Hillside Drive where he crashed into a redwood tree and then fled on foot, hopping over several fences, Sgt. Dan Campos said.

After a 30-minute search, deputies found Beus inside the garage of a home on Plateau Drive with illegal throwing knives and prescription drugs that were not his own. No one was home at the time.

Beus was arrested on suspicion of reckless driving, evading police, a parole violation, possession of drugs and dangerous weapons. He was airlifted to a Santa Clara County hospital with injuries.
