Currently, no easily understood, comprehensive plan exists in the Lompico Water District for the short- or long-term future of the district, and there is no interest from the majority of the board of directors in developing one, except to join the San Lorenzo Valley Water District.
I have noted at various water district meetings in both July and August that a portion of the Lompico community would like to see an alternate plan developed, in case the merger does not take place. It is clear to me that this plan will have to come from within the community of Lompico itself. I feel this plan should come from interested members of the community as a combined group effort, taking into account all opinions, whether they are for or against the merger with SLVWD. The focus would be to develop a five-year operating plan and budget to continue the operation and management of the Lompico Water District for the community. It has been brought to my attention that proactive and concerned citizens have already created a local group, Responsibly Educated Advocates for Lompico Committee, to explore an alternate option.
Anyone interested in participating or contacting the REAL Committee can e-mail them at real.committee@yahoo.com. I also will note that they also have created a community blog site for all opinions to be heard and shared. This can be reached via the Internet at address http://173.8.143.133:8082/wordpress
The board of directors president, Director Rick Harrington, has already used this blog site to share current information about the district , and I encourage all Lompico community members to log in and share their thoughts and concerns not only about the merger, but any subject that concerns them regarding our water district. Let's find the solutions we need for the water district as a community.

Of course SLV Water District was in on it from the get go. Who wouldn't want a water system that FLOW had convinced 1400 Feltonites to foolishly pay for.
The ultimate irony is that FLOW campaigned on lower rates, local control and fear of water shipped out of Felton.
What Feltonites got was higher rates, Felton office closed and SLV Water District agreements with overbuilt neighboring communities to take Felton's water.
That all sounds like the perfect description of a scam.
The Citizens Advisory Committee on the consolidation of SLV and Lompico water districts has launched a new web site to provide information about the proposed consolidation. This site is a great resource for any community member who is researching the pros and cons of a merger. The committee hopes to provide answers to all questions submitted. The committee is attempting to verify all information in writing from the source. The site also provides links to the SLV water district proposal, LAFCO, and the county interactive GIS map where you can view the district boundaries and parcel details.
There is also a form for submitting questions about the merger. The address is:
https://sites.google.com/site/lompicofacts/ and can also be reached at http://tinyurl.com/Lompico/
The site is a work in progress, so please check back often as more information is verified for inclusion.
