Scotts Valley resident David Escobar was arrested last week on suspicion of molesting a young girl who spoke with police following his arrest on similar charges earlier in the month.

Escobar, 42, was arrested March 29 at his workplace in Santa Cruz because of allegations that he committed numerous crimes against a girl in Santa Cruz between 2010 and 2011.

New charges include unlawful sexual intercourse, oral copulation, sodomy, penetration with a foreign object, and sending lewd and lascivious materials to a minor.

He was also arrested on suspicion of possessing child pornography. That case involves a third minor victim, Santa Cruz police reported.

Police said the new victims appeared to be connected to Escobar’s circle of family and friends.

Escobar was first arrested March 21, after the parents of a 14-year-old girl in Santa Cruz went to police to report that their daughter had sexual contact with him. Following an investigation, Escobar was arrested. He posted bail the same day.

Since the latest arrest, he has remained in Santa Cruz County Jail with bail set at $1 million.

Santa Cruz Police Department investigators are still searching to find out if there are more local victims. Anyone with information can contact Santa Cruz Police Department Investigations at 420-5820 or submit a tip at www.santacruzpolice.com or via the department’s mobile phone application.
