Wanted to note that I made an error in identifying Hoot Cress as being from Scotts Valley (“Hammer understands district’s needs,” Letters, May 25). When I first met him 40 years ago, I was 25, and for some reason I had the impression he was from Scotts Valley. In several subsequent meetings over the years, the subject never came up, and my mistake was never noted. As it has been pointed out, Hoot was from Boulder Creek and very active in that end of the valley. The error doesn't have any bearing on my argument about 5th District representation, but my apology for the error.
