Fireworks volunteers needed
Volunteers are needed for the Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular in Scotts Valley to help with parking and food booths on July 4.
Two shifts are available: 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. and 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. and volunteers will receive free admission to the fireworks event and a free meal.
Tickets are $6 in advance and $8 at the gate. The festivities include live music, carnival games, a petting zoo, barbecue and other food booths.

Sail for museum fundraiser set
Stagnaro Charter will offer a 90-minute narrated tour of the Monterey Bay Sanctuary to support the San Lorenzo Valley Museum.
The event is aboard the 60-foot Velocity on June 24 at 9 a.m. A breakfast of pastries, bagels, mimosas, champagne, coffee and tea is part of the $46 price. Half of all proceeds will be donated back to the museum.

Map of farms available
The 37th edition of the free Country Crossroads Map that lists farms on the Central Coast that sell directly to the public. The map shows the location of 26 direct-sell farms and 10 farmer’s markets in the county.
For a copy of the map, send a business-size (#10) self-addressed, stamped envelope to Santa Cruz County Farm Bureau, 141 Monte Vista Ave., Watsonville, CA 95076, or pick up the map there between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The map is online at www.sccfb.com.
Planning workshop offered
The Santa Cruz County Planning Department will offer a workshop from 3 to 5 p.m. July 12 on the 5th floor at the County Government Center, 701 Ocean Street, in Santa Cruz.
The workshop will explain a new county ordinance designed to provide relief to homeowners and tenants of structure3s that don’t conform to zoning regulations. The new rules allow remodeling and maintenance of many homes and buildings that, until now, were prohibited from extensive improvement.
