E-waste event in SV

The city of Scotts Valley will conduct its 10th annual e-waste collection event Sept. 15, a Saturday.

The event will take place across from the Scotts Valley Fire Department on Erba Lane from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Items accepted are: computers, monitors, fax machines, printers, TVs, stereos, VCRs and cell phones.

Last year’s event collected more than 20,000 pounds of electronics, which are now banned from landfill disposal because they contain hazardous materials such as lead, mercury and other heavy metals.

Proceeds will benefit Scotts Valley Rotary community programs and Scotts Valley recycling programs.

Camp Joy canning class

Camp Joy, a nonprofit demonstration garden and training center, will host a class about canning produce.

The class, scheduled for Sept. 15, a Saturday, will cost $30. Projects may include jams, pickles or salsas.

The class will run from 9 a.m. to noon. at 131 Camp Joy Road, in Boulder Creek

Scotts Valley church moves Collide Church, which for more than two years has operated at the Scotts Valley Community Center, moved to the New Hope Church property, 4001 Granite Creek Road, in Scotts Valley.

The first service was Sunday, Sept. 2. Services are ongoing at 6 p.m. Sundays.
