Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Jim Hart will provide information about Assembly Bill 109, the prison realignment bill signed by Gov. Jerry Brown in November 2011 and how the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office is implementing prison realignment this Thursday, Sept. 27 in Ben Lomond.

The public is invited to the workshop titled “Public Safety, Incarceration and Our Community.” It will run from 7 to 9 p.m. at St. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church, 9980 Highway 9 in Ben Lomond.

The workshop is put on by the Community Corrections Partnership and Smart on Crime.

Community member Kent Washburn will provide the welcome address. The presentation will be followed by facilitated small group discussions and a written questionnaire.

This workshop is part of a series of similar events that the Community Corrections Partnership has hosted in Santa Cruz County.

The workshops are co-sponsored by more than 25 local community organizations and provide an opportunity for the community to learn about the bill and how to become involved in the decision making process in the county.
