EDITOR,

The Lompico Water District is sinking deeper and deeper every month. I received a bill for around $7 recently for some assessment from January 2012. A couple of days later, I get a 48-hour Notice of Service Cancellation. I have never been late with a bill, and I was livid that they would impose this on a reliable customer. I had mailed the check; the bank didn't get it. Instead of calling me to check, they send a red cancellation notice? We are seriously considering moving from Lompico, because everything is more difficult, and this water issue is just another unfortunate administrative nightmare that has split the community. Merge and fix it once and for all.

Bari Nazario, Lompico

Blame that on the current board. They are the ones that put a stop to sending late notices and went straight to a disconnection notice after 30 days.

The billing error assessment wasn't applied until the current bill, which was mailed out this past week, so it is unrelated.

Some of the board members wanted to waive the assessment since it was the districts error, they failed to catch it for 8 months and in the interest of good customer relations. The incumbents voted against that though.

If you receive a disconnect notice it means they haven't received payment from you.

If you don't like how the district is being run then you shouldn't vote for the incumbents.

you were one of the lucky ones. some people got hit with $200 or more. All because the incumbents cant "afford" to update the out dated billing system but yet they can fork out $30,000 for a study about a merger that may not even happen. Not to mention the $714,000 boo boo with Calpers that they knew about for 9 months before they let the public know. talk about mismanaging money. I say boot them out and vote for the challengers.
