No public services will be held for Kathleen “Kay” Barker, who died peacefully in Mount Hermon with her family by her side.
Mrs. Barker was born in Dublin, Ireland, the youngest girl of eight children. She was a printer by trade and immigrated to the United States first in 1961 and later as a military wife in 1967.
After military time in Germany and the United States, Mrs. Barker made her home and raised her children in Colorado.
Relatives said she was a vivacious go-getter who loved to dance and bowl. An avid reader, Mrs. Barker also frequented the library. She loved to dress up for holidays. She also enjoyed traveling to Helen Hunt Falls, Colo.
Her grandchildren know her as one to speak her mind, to speak the truth and to play boxing alongside them.
She is survived by her children, Anita Murphy, and her husband, James, of Chino Valley, Ariz., William David Zeringue Jr. of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Sonia Cruz, and her husband, Stephen, of Mount Hermon; a sister, Anne Murphy of Canada; a brother, Thomas Leo Murphy of England; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; many nieces and nephews; and her dog, Bailey.
She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Leo Murphy; mother, Elizabeth (Kelly) Murphy; two brothers, Peter Murphy and Patrick William Murphy; a sister, Mary Theresa (Murphy) White; and two other sisters who died of scarlet fever.
A guestbook can be signed at www.legacy.com.
