Valley Churches United Missions recently announced that the organization’s year-round Bucks For Hunger Drive fundraiser will partner with the Feinstein Foundation during March and April.

According to Valley Churches, the Rhode Island-based Feinstein foundation will offer the Ben Lomond-based charity a grant matching the total value of the cash and food donations the organization receives during those two months.

With the motto “hunger doesn’t take a holiday,” VCUM’s Bucks For Hunger Drive is one of the organization’s major sources of funding.

Money raised will help pay for local disaster relief, rent and mortgage assistance, health care assistance, educational supplies and gas vouchers.

Totals in for 2012

Valley Churches announced its fundraising and volunteer totals from 2012.

Last year, the organization distributed food bags to more than 3,000 people per month — nearly 1,000 more per month than in 2011.

The organization announced its 31st annual holiday fundraiser, the Valley Christmas Project, took in more than $600,000 in cash and donated items for 2012.

In addition to the 5,279 hours worked by volunteers on the Christmas Project, local schools, business associations, churches, youth clubs and service clubs collected more than 50,000 pounds of food items.

Donations may be mailed to Valley Churches United Missions, P.O. Box 367,  Ben Lomond, CA 95005 or dropped off at the headquarters 9400 Highway 9 in downtown Ben Lomond.
