Residents of Scotts Valley and the San Lorenzo Valley won’t have far to travel to partake of some old-fashioned, American fun this July 4. With a plethora of options, throw on your cowboy hat and Old Glory shirt and head on out the any of the following options:


Boulder Creek: The town will play host to its annual large parade through downtown, beginning at 10 a.m. This event is sponsored by the Boulder Creek Business Association and is adjacent to Boulder Creek Hardware’s annual Lumberjack Days competition at the store, 13110 Highway 9.


Junction Park, located on Middleton Avenue, will play host to a community barbecue and outdoor music concert between 12 and 3 p.m.


Ben Lomond: An old-fashioned celebration with games at Alba Schoolhouse on Alba Road will run from 110:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and include a barbecue and performance by the SLV Band.

Scotts Valley: A parade along Scotts Valley Drive followed by fireworks at Skypark in the evening. The parade will begin at 3 p.m. and the fireworks celebration will start at 5 p.m. with actual fireworks beginning after dusk. Games, food, and other activities will also be available. Felton: Roaring Camp Railroads on Graham Hill Road will host a barbecue, along with free games, including sack races, hula hoop contests and more. For information:
