The seventh seeded Scotts Valley girls soccer team handed 10thseeded Greenfield a 3-0 in rainy conditions on Wednesday, Feb. 26 to advance in the Division III Central Coast Section playoffs.

Under continuous rain, the Falcons scored three first half goals to put the game out of reach.

In the second minute, senior captain Darby McFall took a corner kick and found sophomore Brittany Cartee who headed the ball into the net to put the Falcons up early.

Two minutes later junior Taylor Raymond found Cartee with a throw in, and Cartee slammed a shot from 30 yards out that was blocked. However. Audrey Liebenberg found the rebound and punched it into the net for the 2-0 advantage.

In the 21st minute, Scotts Valley scored again when Cartee found sophomore Allie Carl who fired from 30 yards, but had her shot blocked. However, Serena Garcia found the rebound and put the ball in the net for third score of the game.

The game was called due to poor conditions and heavy rain after halftime.

The Falcons play No. 2 seeded Live Oak High School at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 1 at Valley Christian High School in San Jose.
