Smoking has been banned inside buildings for many years, but the new rules include the entire campus, inside and out.
“We are all aware of the health hazards of smoking,” said Dr. Nanette Mickiewicz, hospital president, in a prepared statement. “As a health care provider, we have a responsibility to model health behaviors that we want to see in our community.”
Doctors, nurses and respiratory therapists can help patients with nicotine replacement therapy and discuss options and resources for quitting.
Discounts on nicotine replacement products will be available to hospital visitors.
