Emergency utility repairs along southbound Highway 9 in Felton are expected to continue through Friday morning, resulting in ongoing traffic impacts near the intersection with Felton Empire Road and Graham Hill Road, according to Caltrans.

Utility crews discovered damaged conduit infrastructure Wednesday afternoon and have been working continuously to complete repairs. The work has required the closure of the right-hand lane on southbound Highway 9 at Graham Hill Road.

Despite the lane closure, motorists are still able to make right turns onto Felton Empire Road.

Caltrans said it is coordinating with the utility company to identify ways to reduce traffic congestion in the area, particularly as several community events are expected to bring additional visitors to the San Lorenzo Valley in the coming days.

Drivers are advised to allow extra travel time, use alternate routes when possible and remain alert while passing through the work zone.

“Caltrans thanks the public for its patience and cooperation while these necessary emergency repairs are completed,” the agency said.
