Volunteers from Valley Churches United Missions have launched the organization’s 25th annual Easter Project.
The organization is collecting food and accepting donations of toys and cash to hand out at an Easter dinner for those in need this year.
Last year, Valley Churches helped 605 households — a total of 1,271 people — as part of the Easter drive, said operations director Linda Lovelace.
“Together we can make it, if everyone pitches in a little,” Lovelace said.
There are many ways to contribute this year.

  • Brown bags are available at local grocery stores and churches. A list of needed food and gift items is on each bag, including canned ham, sparkling cider, fruit, oatmeal, soup, peanut butter, dessert pudding and more.
  • A $40 cash donation provides a complete dinner for a family of four. Checks should be marked “Easter” and be sent to VCUM, P.O. Box 367, Ben Lomond, CA 95005.
  • Children’s baskets and goodies to fill them, such as small plush animals, candy, tooth brushes and tooth paste, are wanted.
  • Residents can volunteer to fill food bags and baskets or deliver goods to seniors.

Donations can be delivered to Valley Churches’ Ben Lomond Office, 9400 Highway 9, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Nonperishable items can also be dropped off at Scotts Valley Chamber of Commerce, 360 Kings Village Road, in Scotts Valley from 10.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday; or at Ben Lomond Gas Station, 9500 Highway 9, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.
