The Quail Creek 4-H Club earned success at the Santa Cruz County Fair last month. The Livestock Team entered a steer, three pigs, three chickens, four market lambs and a flock of breeding sheep in the show animal competition. Their group three market lambs — raised by Steven Katawicz, Mia Hamilton, and Jay Wright — won first place. The club also won first place for the theme of its booth “Fly Me to the Fair” which featured paper mache hot air balloons.
“Thanks to everyone who came to the Santa Cruz County Fair last month, it was really fun to meet you and talk about our club and our animals,” Mia Hamilton, vice-president and reporter of the Quail Creek 4-H Club wrote. “This year’s fair was so much fun. There were many learning experiences that we got to participate in, such as working at the clover deli, helping to show our club member’s animals, grooming our animals, selling our animals at auction, winning ribbons, entering things to get awards, and learning all about fair.”
The club is hosting an open house at the Zayante Fire House in Felton on Nov. 5 from 4-6 p.m. For more information email [email protected].
