Ben Lomond resident David L. McMillion died at his home Dec. 20. He was 68.
Mr. McMillion was born in Los Angeles to the late Earl and Ruth McMillion. His mother went into labor after Pearl Harbor was attacked on Dec. 7 that year, and his father raced her to the hospital through the dark streets as Los Angeles prepared for a possible attack.

In high school, he excelled at baseball, eventually going on to compete in the L.A. All-Stars Championship as pitcher for his team. Soon after, he was invited to attend the Los Angeles Dodgers’ spring training, but instead he chose to marry and start a family.
Mr. McMillion and his family moved to Ben Lomond in 1972.
David was an executive in the roofing industry from the 1960s until his retirement in 2004. Early in his career, he began to play golf, and over time, he competed in state and national corporate tournaments, winning many trophies and awards.
Mr. McMillion is survived by his wife, Marie McMillion; sons, Michael McMillion, and his wife, Mikki, of San Jose, and Matthew McMillion of Russia; daughters, Molly Hottenroth, and her husband, Matt, of Hillsboro, Ore., and Mary Marcella, and her husband, Josh, of Beaverton, Ore.; brother, Bill McMillion of Hemet; and sister, Donna Wiese of Buena Park.
