The first speed dating affair in Felton proved successful, with 18 out of 20 participants finding more than one potential match, event mastermind Nick Naccari said.
Speed dating allows singles to meet multiple possible dates in brief time blocks. During the first get-together, attendees lined up in two rows of seating, meeting for eight minutes before moving to the next person in line, Naccari said.
Participants were given grading cards to rate each person on a one-to-five scale, and those who mutually wrote high marks for each other got an e-mail to confirm the match.
“Two people had five mutual matches — that’s a lot of dating to do,” Naccari said.
The average age range for the singles was over 35 years old, Naccari said. Another speed dating session is already planned for next month.
Naccari said he knew the round-robin mini-dates had been a hit when he saw a couple who met during the gathering share a drink at Don Quixote’s in Felton after the initial soiree.
“I think it was good for the area’s social life,” Naccari said. “I wouldn’t be surprised if at least one match gets a relationship out of this.”
