Majors Division
Phillies 4, Live Oak Yankees 2
Michael Mattoch went 3-for-4 and scored two runs from his leadoff position. D’Shawn Hopkins was 2-for-3 with a double and two runs. Dylan Bounds struck out three in two innings pitched, and Robbie Carling whiffed 11 in four innings.
Phillies 10, Red Sox 5
Carling blasted two home runs and five RBIs to lead the Phillies to victory. Matt Robustelli singled in two runs in the sixth, and Mattoch was 2-for-4 and scored three runs.
The Red Sox’s Jared Trader went 2-for-3 with a double, and Ben Yatson added a double and scored on a single by Mike La Capria.
Indians 7, Live Oak Padres 3
Jack Gentry pitched five innings and went 3-for-3 to lead the Indians. Charlie Weigel drove in two and scored once, and Jacob Cornelison had a nice catch in left field and scored once. Jonah Shaby relieved Gentry in the sixth to close the game.
Minors Division
Cardinals 8, Giants 6
Matt Siordia went 3-for-3 with a triple and scored three runs, and Max Crandall went 3-for-3 to lead the Cards. Eli Vallory added to the lead when he drilled an RBI double in the third inning.
Giants’ pitchers Manny Smith and Vernon Frieberg walked only three batters, and Frieberg had two hits and scored twice.
Yankees 9, Red Sox 4
A five-run third inning in which Elliot Brown doubled in Ben Kanter and Stephen Markey and later scored on a single by Scott Poetzinger helped the Yankees to the win.
Cole Sitton was 3-for-3 and scored twice, and Daniel Riniert walked and scored on a passed ball. Owen Blake went 2-or-3 and Andy Wise, playing with two injured toes, singled and stole a base in the third.
AA Division
Angels 22, Red Sox 3
The Angels scored in all five innings and defeated the Sox behind six strikeouts from Kobe Payne. Payne also had two hits and scored twice.
The Angels’ Clay Brown went 3-for-3 and scored three times; Reid Olmstead went 2-for-2 and scored three times; and Odin Spalinger had a single and scored.
Russel McGuire doubled, and Shane Marland singled and scored in the third for the Red Sox.
Phillies 15, Dodgers 14
The Dodgers scored 11 runs in the fourth inning but could not overcome 2-for-2 games from Vincent Prograce and Cody Noble. Adan St. Arno came in to get the save for the Phillies.
Colin Salsido pitched an inning and struck out the side for the Dodgers, and Colyn Salsido went 2-for-2 with a walk and two runs scored.
Scotts Valley Little League
AAA Division
Braves 8, Astros 4
Braves’ pitcher Joe Murray struck out five and held the Astros scoreless for two innings, and Nathan Schaeffer did the same in the fourth and fifth innings. Murray and Reese Gyllenhammer each had two hits, and Erik Olson hit a two-run double.
The Astros’ Dylan Townley had two hits, and Nathan Kvamme reached base each of the three times he was up to bat.
Cubs 12, Braves 6
Henry Danner and David Nicholson both had two hits and three RBIs to lead the Cubs, while Jordan Smith added an RBI double to center and Jackson O’Brien had an RBI single to right.
For the Braves, Joe Murray went 3-for-3 with a run and two RBIs; Ian Gallagher had two runs, two hits and two RBIs; and Luke Balch and Garrett Hormel each had two hits.
Majors Division
Giants 7, Brewers 5
The Giants scored three in the bottom of the fifth to overcome a 5-4 deficit.
With two outs, Erik Beraut reached base on an error, Brett Ifland walked, Nick Alvarez singled and knocked in a run, and Gregory Neiger then singled to load the bases. Jack Palmer then hit a shot to the fence that scored the two go-ahead runs.
Tanner Spence started for the Giants and gave up only three earned runs while fanning five, and Palmer got the win while fanning two in relief.
Cardinals 22, A’s 3
The Cardinals’ Georgia Parsons went 5-for-5 with a double; Jake Wiechmann had four hits and a three-run homer; and A.J. Collishaw, Reilly Merlo and Jake Finch all had two hits each. Wiechmann and Parsons both knocked in four runs, and Parsons scored four times.
Kyle Giguiere starred for the A’s, going 3-for-3 with a homer and three RBIs, while Cooper Rains doubled and Jacob Utic singled.
