SLV Minors Padres grab division championship

Majors Division
The league championship is yet to be decided, hinging upon the outcome of the regular season games which end this week. If necessary, a championship play-off game will be held on Closing Day, June 13th, 9am at the SLV-LL field at SLV High School.
White Sox 15, Brewers 2
Leadoff batter, D’Shawn Hopkins hit the first pitch of the game out of the park, and the White Sox were off to a romp. Isaac Newberry hit two homeruns, including a grand slam. Kenny Cella, Kris Chatfield, Donovan Francis and Matt Pasternak all doubled in runs.
Dodgers 15, Brewers 3
The Dodgers picked up where the White Sox left off as the Brewers struggled to come back. For the Dodgers Jared Mailey and Jared Trader hit homeruns and leadoff man Brandon Stoddart batted 4-for-5 with three RBIs.
Minors Division
The Minor division wrapped up their regular season, and the Padres became the undisputed champions of their division by leading both halves. They will continue on to represent SLV at the District 39 Tournament of Champions, which begin this Monday in San Juan Bautista.
A’s 15, Rays 4
The A’s went out big against the Rays as A’s pitchers Dylan Bounds and Charlie Weigel combined for 10 strikeouts and on offense, five RBIs. Howard Forehan also went 3-for-4 and doubled in a run, while Matt Siordia singled in two.
Padres 10, Cardinals 1
The Padres overcame 11 strikeouts by racking up 13 hits. Coll Sitton and Scotty MacCool each picked up two RBIs. Tanner Murray tripled in a run, and Jacob Matsuoka hit an RBI single. Jackson Turner scored the lone run in the top of the 1st for the Cards after teammate Evan Seligman singled him in.
AA Division
The Angles played the Pirates on Thursday, June 11 to determine the AA division champion and which team would move on to the tournament of champions.
Giants 10, Pirates 4
The Giants gave the Pirates a great duel in their final season game. Second baseman Luka Mahkovtz was 2-for-3 with two RBIs for the Giants. Cole Lazzarini, Vinny Prograce and Nikolai Heinen batted in runs, too. For the Pirates, David George doubled in a run, Cameren Buts picked up two RBIs, Trent Walker singled in a run and Gabe Pavelko doubled.
Red Sox 9, Angels 9
The final regular season game ended with a fitting tie. Eighteen walks in all helped inflate the score, but the Red Sox got help from Daniel Johnson (2-for-3, RBI), Andrew Chestnut with an RBI single, Tyler Dawson with a two run single, and hits from Max Noble and Charles Hayes.
The Angels had their share in the first, as Jessica Rogge doubled in leadoff hitter Aidan Callahan who singled, and Julian Auldridge doubled in two runs.
Scotts Valley Little League
The Red Sox beat the Cardinals to advance to the finals of the Scotts Valley Majors tournament against the first-place Giants.
Majors Division
Red Sox 2, Cardinals 1
The Red Sox David Snider, backed by stellar defense and diving catches from center fielder Evan Carvalheira, threw a 10-strikeout complete game five-hitter for the win.
The Cardinals scored in the third when A.J. Collishaw’s bloop double to left chased home Brett Klotz, but the Red Sox’ Danny Snider lined a two-run homer over the wall in left with two outs in the fifth for what turned out to be the winning run. The Cards’ Jake Carli recorded 11 strikeouts and gave up five hits through 5 2/3s. Collishaw was 3-for-3, and Danny Snider and Nick Rains had two hits each for the Sox.
Red Sox 3, Braves 1
Danny Snider knocked in two runs with a triple and allowed no earned runs, six hits and fanned six through five innings of work for the Red Sox.
The Sox David Snider and Jon Velez had two hits each. For the Braves, Joe Espinola was 2-for-2, Nick Smith had two hits and Ryan Traulsen struck out seven.
AAA Division
Marlins 10, Padres 9, seven innings
The Marlins took a 9-1 lead into the sixth on strong pitching from Travis Lane, Jonathan Steen and Jacob Utic. However, the Padres rallied for eight largely on a double from Ethan Emanuelson and a bases-loaded triple from Robert Reimer. In the seventh, the Marlins seemed poised to win when Nathan Pisciotta, David Burke and Gerry Julien singled, but Pisciotta was thrown out at home. On the next play, right fielder Conor Santos made a fine running grab of Nik Ohlsson’s line drive, but the Padres just missed throwing out Burke, who tagged up and slid home with the winning run. Daniel Shamshoian scored three times for the Marlins.
AA Division
Bulls 1, Riverdogs 0, eight innings
The Bulls won the AA tournament and ended a scoreless extra-inning pitchers’ duel in the eighth when Kaden Pryor and Dylan Townley singled, then Ian Thomas was hit by a pitch, which loaded the bases.
Jarrett Bare stroked a line drive single to right over a drawn-in Owlz infield and outfield for the win.
The Bulls’ Zach Snider recorded 11 of his 12 outs on strikeouts, never throwing more than two balls to any hitter.
