Letter: Dog walkers want to help

EDITOR,
Thank you to the Santa Cruz City Council and water department director Bill Kocher for their decision not to issue trespassing citations to dog walkers who walk their dogs on leash on a stretch of city-owned roadway at the end of Newell Creek Road in Ben Lomond that the city is considering opening to legal dog walking.
This temporary arrangement is appreciated by the neighborhood dog walkers, some who’ve used this road for 50 years. We look forward to working with the city to formulate a permanent plan that allows for legal dog walking, respects the important ecosystem of the watershed and the need for security around Loch Lomond’s dam.
