EDITOR,
On a visit to Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park a few weeks ago, my boyfriend and I took a hike through the forest and ended up turned around and lost as nightfall drew near. Being in unfamiliar territory, we didn’t have many options. Then we met Buck and Andrew, two mountain bikers, who immediately offered us a ride back to our campsite, showing incredible kindness to a couple of strangers. Hours of wandering in the woods were avoided, and instead, we found lively conversation and were soon returned safely to our camp. We were only able to get their first names and learn that Andrew owned a bike shop in Scotts Valley, but we wanted to write and express how grateful we were. We were pleased to find such kindness thousands of miles away from home.
