LETTER: Martinez for school board

EDITOR,
I am writing to endorse George Martinez as a candidate for the Santa Cruz County School Board, Trustee Area 1.
I had the pleasure of being a student in Martinez’s math academy and calculus classes for three years at Santa Cruz High School. Martinez is an inspiring, creative and hardworking math teacher who is dedicated to helping his students learn challenging subject matter and achieve success. Martinez sets high standards for his students and teaches the value of preparation, studying, homework and hard work.
Being actively involved in Santa Cruz County public education for numerous years has given Martinez important insight into the countless challenges facing public education and our local school system. Martinez possesses the skill set, dedication, and tenacity needed to overcome the many issues that he will face as a trustee, and I am confident that he will use the same principles and work ethic that he teaches his students to tackle these issues.
I strongly encourage you to vote for George Martinez, because he will be an excellent trustee who will make a tremendous difference for the students he serves.
