Computer to be raffled off during 1-year anniversary
Boulder Creek’s Coastal Computer is celebrating a year at its downtown address with a raffle for a desktop computer and refreshments from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 19 at 13200 Highway 9, Ste. 9, in Boulder Creek.
Raffle tickets are $1 each or five for $6.
“It’s been a lot busier than we thought,” co-owner Tom Dempsey said of the first year. “It was kind of a gamble. It was, let’s open the store and see what happens.”
Owners Dempsey and Vicki Chavez have joined the San Lorenzo Valley Chamber of Commerce and collect e-waste that they donate to Hope Services (see picture).
Dempsey said he repairs computers that have viruses and those that are damaged physically.
“I want to get customers their computer back as soon as possible,” he said.

Zero Motorcycles founder leaves company
The founder of electric motorcycle maker Zero Motorcycles, Neal Saiki, is leaving the daily operations of the company to re-enter the Igor I Sikorsky Human Powered Helicopter Competition.
Saiki first pursued the venture as an aeronautical engineering student at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, in 1989.
He and his wife, Lisa, founded Zero Motorcycles Inc. in their garage in January 2006. The company now has more than 60 employees and the industry’s broadest line of electric motorcycles.
Health trainer moves into SLV
Santa Cruz-based One to One Health is hosting new fitness classes, nutrition services and weight-loss programs in the San Lorenzo Valley.
Founder and owner Nicole Gaitan has primarily worked in downtown Santa Cruz and Capitola, but she is working to set up a studio somewhere in the valley.
“I’ve always had a strong drive to help others succeed in health and fitness and am excited to be offering my services to San Lorenzo Valley,” Gaitan said.
