The final game of the season was again a battle as the Falcons dropped the quarterfinals of the Northern California tournament to Piedmont High School of Oakland 57-48 on March 10.
The Falcons came within three points in the fourth quarter, but Piedmont went on a 6-0 run with a minute and a half left to seal the deal with a 9-point victory.
Natalia Ebrahimian led the team with 20 points, followed by Angela Silver with 15.
Scotts Valley (23-7) swept through Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League play undefeated to win the regular season league title for the first time in school history. The Falcons lost in the league tournament to St. Francis of Watsonville to share the league crown.
They then marched through Carmel High 66-37 and Mercy High School 55-43 (San Francisco) and into the Central Coast Section Div IV championships where they lost to Notre Dame-Belmont in the final minute of a low scoring 29-33 game.
Scotts Valley bounced back in the opening round of the NorCal Tournament, beating Bear River of Grass Valley 82-48 in the first round.
Scotts Valley will be returning four starters next year, three of those being freshman this season. However, senior and league MVP Liz Munger will graduate.
