Personal trainer Marcus Rein has found an affordable way to deliver both attitude and an entire gym to your front door.
Rein, 24, is a graduate of the University of Central Florida and was a six-time member of the under-20 United States soccer team.
He took his passion for physical fitness and founded SC Elite Fitness, a performance-focused training system based in Scotts Valley that can go anywhere.
Well, anywhere a truck can travel, anyway.
Rein has gone to extreme lengths to convert his half-ton pickup into a mobile workout station focused on resistance training, speed-building techniques and agility.
“I looked at the market and saw a niche that nobody had thought to fill,” Rein said. “Performance-enhancing focus is not there in the gym settings, or really anywhere. I thought I should find a way to bring this kind of spotlight workout to teams and individuals who are looking for that kind of experience.”
Rein’s truck takes the gym outdoors. Lumber racks have been modified to allow for pull-ups, dips, bench press, lat pulls and many other strength-training exercises.
In the bed of the truck, Rein stocks a setup of sand-filled weights for squats, lunges and other power-lifting motions. Countless other balls, boxes and workout mats for balance, agility and performance improvement are stowed in every nook and cranny of the truck.
Rein spent six years as a goalkeeper on the under-20 national soccer team and has four years of collegiate soccer under his belt. Those experiences drove him to refine his focus for team performance and group workouts.
Still, he offers appointments for individuals, too.
“The setup really works best as a circuit workout,” Rein said. “I can keep four people actively working at stations around the truck, while others do weights and pull-ups on the truck.”
Rein is certified through the National Association for Sports Medicine and the American Council on Exercise.
