Cougars shut out Cardinals
San Lorenzo Valley High pitcher Nick Lipperd bested Santa Cruz High 2-0 throwing the complete game shutout on May 3. Lipperd struck out five and walked one and scored a run when Scott Petrosky doubled.
The first run was scored by SLV (3-5) when Trent Scott got caught in a pickle on the third baseline. Scott bowled over the catcher who dropped the ball. Then the Cardinal first baseman picked up the loose ball. Scott regained his feet and plowed through the first baseman in a dive to home plate and knocked the ball out of his glove, too, earning the hard fought score.
