Braves battle in TOC
The Braves battled for more than four hours Monday, June 20, against the Pajaro Valley Giants in the Tournament of Champions. The game was suspended with the Giants down 10-9, with bases loaded and one out in the bottom of the ninth inning.
Play resumed Tuesday, June 21, and the game ended in five minutes on a perfect double play by the Braves to end the game. Less than an hour later, the Braves faced the Aptos A’s in the championship, where they fell, 12-6.

Braves fall to Scotts Valley
Tournament of Champions play continued as the Braves defeated Santa Cruz National, 9-6 on June 15. After giving up a 5-0 lead, the Braves came back thanks to a tying base hit by Howard Forehan scoring Jackson Turner. Hans Suwinski then blasted a two-run homer to left field to secure the lead.
On Friday, June 17, the Braves fell to Scotts Valley, 9-4, after Sawyer Stemm homered for SV. SLV led 4-2 in the fourth, but Scotts Valley erupted for five runs and batted around. Jack Gentry hit his third home run of the tournament for the Braves.

AAA Division
Braves knocked out of TOC
The Scotts Valley Little League AAA champs, the Braves, were knocked out of the Tournament of Champions on June 17, losing to Pajaro Valley’s Giants, 8-1. The postseason-ending defeat follows a near-comeback loss to the Aptos A’s, 12-11, and a win that knocked San Juan Aromas’ Giants out of the double-elimination tournament, 15-14.
Offensively, Brenden Hite, Garrett Hormel and Lauren Shay had five hits each in the tournament, and Hite drove in seven runs. Brody Affolter added a triple. Cameron Kufchak got the win and Hite the save in the Braves’ lone tournament victory.
Minors Division
Scotts Valley 15, Capitola Soquel 1
Scotts Valley’s Arthur Soto allowed one run in the three innings he pitched before Zepher Christensen closed the game on the mound on June 16. Christensen also went 4-for-4 with four singles. Grant Auman and Soto went 3-for-3 at bat, and Tyler Costere went 2-for-3 with two doubles.
Scotts Valley 11, San Lorenzo Valley 7
In a back-and-forth battle between neighboring towns on June 18, Zepher Christensen, Tyler Rehnberg, Grant Auman and Weber Stemm went 3-for-3 and Tyler Rhenberg went 2-for-3 with a single and an inside-the-park home run to give Scotts Valley the win.
Scotts Valley moved on to the championship round after press time Wednesday, June 22.
