Investment company celebrates opening
The Scotts Valley Chamber of Commerce celebrated a grand opening for Morgan Stanley Smith Barney at its new location, 6004 La Madrona Drive, in the Scotts Valley Corners center. A ribbon-cutting ceremony accompanied a networking mixer on Sept. 8.
Open house on tap
JMI Commercial and Bob Fuller of Edward Jones Investments will have a San Lorenzo Valley Chamber of Commerce mixer at the Zayante Depot in Felton from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21. Hors d’oeuvres and wine will be served. Attendees are encouraged to take their business cards.
Grand opening for chocolate shop
Chocolate Visions, 224-C Kings Village Road, in Scotts Valley, will host a weekend grand-opening celebration Sept. 23 through 25. All chocolates will be 25 percent off, as husband-and-wife chocolatiers Lloyd and Lindy Martin settle into their new storefront. The couple had a soft opening in June. The storefront is between Pure Valley Water and Scotts Valley Chinese Cuisine, near Cinelux Scotts Valley.
Bonny Dooner to lecture
Wayne Hoff and Bonny Doon resident Grace Wilkins will deliver the lecture “ Muscle Testing: A Biofeedback System,” from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, at Santa Cruz Integrative Medicine and Chi Center, 21511 East Cliff Drive, in Santa Cruz. Energy medicine workshop in Bonny Doon

Felton instructor offers natural birth classes
Susan Collum, a Hypnobabies childbirth hypnosis instructor, is offering classes for the childbirth hypnosis program.
Hypnobabies teaches an eyes-open, waking hypnosis method to expectant mothers that creates an automatic physiological response in their bodies, helping childbirth to be natural and relaxed, according to Collum.

Quilt show in SV
SueDee’s Quilting, Knitting and More is showing quilts by Pam Rocco, a Quilter’s Newsletter Magazine columnist and local quiltmaker.
The display, “Quilting by the Seat of My Pants,” consists of 20 works, including several “britches” quilts, made from recycled denim and corduroy. The display reflects the artist’s philosophy of quilting as a salvage art that incorporates both new and used materials.
An artist reception, which is open to the public, is from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16 at the store, 222-G Mount Hermon Road, in Scotts Valley.
