Services will be held Jan. 7 for Arnold R. Gregg, of Santa Cruz, who died in Santa Cruz at the age of 76.
Mr. Gregg, better known as “Arnie,” was the son of Clarence Gregg and Margaret Verhines Gregg in 1935. He was born and raised in Santa Cruz and attended local schools: Soquel Elementary, Santa Cruz High School (Class of 1954) and Cabrillo College. He then served in the U.S. Army. After the Army, he began his 38-year career as a quality analyst in the aerospace industry. He worked for Stewart Engineering and Watkins-Johnson.
Mr. Gregg had a lifelong love of racing. He competed in drag racing and went on to stock car racing with his son, Ken. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed camping and traveling. Mr. Gregg also played football in high school, and he was a fan of the San Francisco Giants and the 49ers. He was a member of Sons in Retirement.
Mr. Gregg is survived by his sons, Ken Gregg of Scotts Valley and Joe Martinez, and his wife, Lynn Steed, of Santa Cruz; sister, Clarice Renollet of Cupertino; and close friend, Ruth Ditty of Santa Cruz.
A memorial service will begin at 3 p.m. Jan. 7, a Saturday, at the First Church of the Nazarene, 115 S. Morrissey Blvd., in Santa Cruz. Condolences can be shared online at www.pacificgardenschapel.com.
