Scotts Valley Rotary
The Rotarians are glad to be back after a nice holiday break. President-elect Cheryl Rebottaro, from Edward Jones in Scotts Valley, began her formal training this month to become president of the Scotts Valley Rotary for the 2012-13 year.
The club’s Scotts Valley High School Interact Club is planning its first Santa Cruz area fundraiser. It will be at the First Congregational Church, 900 High St., in Santa Cruz, from 6 to 9 p.m. Feb. 4. Proceeds from the semiformal event will go to Mary’s Meals and the Firelight Foundation. The $15 admission includes dinner, entertainment, dancing and a silent auction. The event is open to the public.
Rotary meets at 12:15 p.m. Mondays at the Hilton Santa Cruz-Scotts Valley, 6001 La Madrona Drive, in Scotts Valley. Please view our website for dates and a list of upcoming speakers.
Scotts Valley Exchange Club
Exchange Club of Scotts Valley is looking forward to 2012, as the club develops its ambitions and implements its goals. Exchange will have its annual Search for Talent, police officer and firefighter of the year awards banquet, golf tournament, Music at Skypark and monthly get-togethers with community leaders and speakers.
On Feb. 22 at the Scotts Valley Branch Library, 251 Kings Village Road, the club will host Bruce McPherson as its guest speaker. Appetizers and beverages will be served from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The public is invited for a conversation on state governmental reform.
Regular club meetings are at noon the second Wednesday of each month at Mint, 4652 Scotts Valley Drive for business and from 5:30 to 7 p.m. the fourth Wednesday of each month for a fun meeting featuring local business leaders.

Kiwanis Club of Scotts Valley
Kiwanis is actively organizing for Music at Skypark 2012. Band selection is taking place, and in February, sponsorships will be available. The club expects them to go quickly, as they were very desirable in 2011.
The Kiwanis Club had its annual Christmas Breakfast for its “evening” meeting at Pasatiempo on Dec. 14. The club was entertained by the Scotts Valley High School choir, live and silent auctions and sing-along caroling.
Kiwanis meets at 7 a.m. every other Wednesday at Bruno’s BBQ, 230-G Mount Hermon Road ($5). Those interested in the charitable work of Kiwanis are welcome to attend.

Scotts Valley Host Lions
The club had an interesting presentation at its evening meeting from Watsonville Wetlands and heard from Bruce McPherson, former California secretary of state, at its morning meeting Tuesday, Jan. 24. McPherson spoke about “the 10 most important issues in our area.”
The club welcomes two new members, Scott Newman of Ben Lomond and Bill Smallman of Felton.
The club continues to serve lunches twice a month at the Scotts Valley Senior Center.
Additionally, the club cleaned its section of northbound Highway 17 this month.
Upcoming is the club’s annual Crab Cioppino Feed, March 3 at the CPDES Hall near Harvey West Park in Santa Cruz. The Billy Martini Band will provide music for dancing after the dinner. Tickets are $45. Those who buy tickets by Feb. 16 will receive a free book of seven raffle tickets.
