Scotts Valley lacrosse rolls on
The Scotts Valley High School lacrosse team bested Santa Cruz High School 19-1 on March 9.
After Santa Cruz scored the opening goal, the Falcons scored four goals in the first, seven in the second, four in the third and two in the fourth quarter to dominate the Cardinals. Attackman Spencer Fogelquist scored 8 goals and 4 assists while Wesley Koenig added 5 goals and 2 assists. The 5-0 Falcons play today at 7 p.m. at Soquel High.
Soccer gift cards awarded
An anonymous donor contributed Starbuck’s gift cards to seven girls on the San Lorenzo Valley varsity soccer team in recognition of their contribution to the team while maintaining academic excellence. Seven members of the varsity team maintained a 4.0 or higher grade point average.
Recipients of the gift cards were: Carly Sasscer, McKenna Maness, Synclaire Reyes, Mariah Lindberg, Raquel Mittelbusher, Lauren Wood, and Caitlin Eggleston.
Coach Heidi Romswinckel appreciated the recognition of her players and presented the gift cards at the team’s awards dinner.
SV bocce club wins bronze
The Scotts Valley Bocce Club competed and took third place in the 2012 California State Senior Games on Tuesday, March 13 at Campo di Bocce in Livermore. This was the first year that bocce was included in the Senior Games.
“We expected tough competition and that is just what we got” said Club President Tom Walsh. “It went down to a final playoff game and we were able to stay focused and executed some great shots to win the game and secure third place in our bracket, winning the bronze metal.”
