There are three election forums where residents will have a chance to ask questions and get to know the three candidates running for the open seat for 5th District Santa Cruz County Supervisor.
Valley Women’s Club
First the Valley Women’s Club in partnership with the League of Women voters will host a forum from 7 to 9 p.m. on April 11 at the San Lorenzo Valley High School Performing Arts Center, 7105 Highwa7 9 in Felton.
The candidates funning for supervisor will present their platforms and answer questions from the audience. Also sponsoring the event is Community TV of Santa Cruz, who will film the forum and televise it multiple times until the election. For information, contact Sherry Skold at [email protected].
Press-Banner and chambers of commerce
Then, the Press-Banner newspaper, in partnership with the Scotts Valley and San Lorenzo Valley chambers of commerce will host two elections forums – one in Scotts Valley and one in Felton to precede the election.
The forums will be held on the following dates:
Scotts Valley: 7 p.m. April 30, 2012 at the Scotts Valley Community Center, 360 Kings Village Road.
Felton: 7 p.m. May 3, 2012 at San Lorenzo Valley High School, 7105 Highway 9 in Felton.
Residents have a chance to submit questions for candidates before the forum online at www.pressbanner.com, or by e-mailing Press-Banner editor Peter Burke at [email protected]. A panel will select the questions that will be asked by guest moderators.
All three candidates in the race are scheduled to attend both forums. They include Bruce McPherson of Pasatiempo, Erik Hammer of Boulder Creek and Bill Smallman of Lompico.
