Scotts Valley Little League resumed play this week while the rain subsided. Here are results from several divisions.
Majors Division
Reds 4 Giants 2
Nathan Pisciotta doubled, singled and scored, Carson Spence had three singles and a walk and Ryan Bariteau walked 3 times.
Rays 18, Phillies 3
Daniel Shamshoian scored four runs and had three hits for the Rays, Kyle Raymond scored three times on a double and single, Reilly Merlo had four RBI’s and two hits, Logan Hudson had three hits and two RBIs, Ramon Nunez had two hits, E.J. Bright scored twice and John Sosa-Guaita doubled. Jack Kastner doubled, singled and scored two runs for the Phillies while the leftfielder turned a double play by doubling a runner off first.
Giants 9, SLV Diamondbacks 2
Nathan Pisciotta got the win, throwing 5.2 innings while allowing two runs on seven hits and fanning 12. Carson Spence doubled, singled and had two RBIs, Ryan Bariteau doubled and walked, Cody Burnett doubled and Garret Fisher had three walks. For the D’backs, Tanner Murray had two doubles and a single and Elliot Brown doubled.
Blue Jays 9, Phillies 4
Conor Santos had a single, double and triple, Dylan Townley had three hits and Asher Reynolds doubled. Starter Zach Snider went five innings and got the win. Jack Kastner doubled and singled while Garrett Hormel and Brendan Magee had two hits each.
Phillies 6, Reds 5
Starter Brendan Magee got the win and Garrett Hormel pitched two scoreless final innings to get the save. Jack Kastner led the Phillie offense with two hits, two runs and turned a triple play from a pop fly while playing third base. The Phillies also got RBI singles from Ben Lemus and Luke Streller. Reds leadoff man Nic Alvarez had a single, three walks and scored three times, David Coates added two hits that drove in three runs and Tyler Renn pitched the last inning for the Reds, striking out the side.
AAA Division
Diamondbacks 7, Braves 2
For the D’backs, Nick Endres doubled twice, Shane Burns had a two-run single and Kevin Bonn, Paul Hanson, Soren Burns and Graham Smith all singled. The Braves’ Anthony Abruzzini pitched five innings and struck out 11 while Brody Affolter was 3-for-3 and Wyatt Luck singled. Tyler Knox added a great shoestring catch of a hard hit ball to center field.
Yankees 8, Tigers 7
The Yankees came back late on a leadoff double by Josh Booth, a walk by Anthony Petrini and a great bunt by Matt Ellis that scored the tying and winning runs. Petrini turned a great double play in the top of the sixth to seal the win. The Tigers had great pitching by Kyle Smith and Masa Sato that kept the game close.
Red Sox 11, Yankees 7
Red Sox pitchers Evan Foy, Dominic Papagni-Martinez and Bryce Gunderson collectively struck out 10 and walked only three while Gunderson and Dylan Leonard each doubled and singled. The Yankees were led by great pitching by Weber Stemm and Jadon Ulrich, who struck out a combined 7 batters. Anthony Petrini, Ambrosio Torres and Arthur Soto all hit safely for the Yankees.
